Journey Log WCS M'sia Round A - part 4 (final)

5th June (Sun) - WCS M'sia Preliminary Competition Round A

Again we woke up at 8am to grab free breakfast. Then we slowly wear our costumes, getting ready in our hotel room, before heading to the venue roughly 1 hour earlier than competition time. We wanted to test-drive our wings (after that disaster at Hari Belia Comp) before other contestants come.

Everyone helped attaching the giant wings on my back, we did a silent reenactment of our skit, swing here n there...and then a LOUD CRACK!! ooops.... a quarter of my back plate (that is holding the wings) broke! So we took off the wings and prayed real hard the wings will remain standing till at least after the real competition skit.... Q^Q

Ikki holding on to my wings.

Miss Fab (my mannequin) cosplaying as Amiya.

This is a 'buugeng'. It is not straight! Yes... it is not straight!

Woah~ Rules of WCS written on a shirt!

A peek at the scoring sheet. Ohh lala~

The Judges for WCS! Again The Gamehub organizer, The Japanese ambassador, and Stephanie from SCC. Onwards to the competition!! Which started around 2pm.

Team #1 Rockman/Megaman (red n blue? Megaman & Zero?)

Team #2 Alichino (Myoubi & Ryouko) ... Yuan as Ryoko and Sky as Myoubi

Team #3 Bleach (Ichigo & Ulquiorra?)

Team #4 Black Rock Shooter (Black Rock Shooter & White Rock Shooter)

Team #5 Dynasty Warriors (Xhao Yu & Xiao Cao)

Ayase did a special solo performance at the end. Very pretty chinese fan n umbrella dance!

Personally i wanna give a shoutout I'M SO GLAD THE WINGS DID NOT /GG ON ME ON STAGE!!!! Yay!!! My movements were restricted because i was balancing the (half broken) wings and the too small stage.... but i'm happy our skit went smoothly. And 'Master' was so sexy with his buugeng eheheheh~ *Q*

Cappy came to Johor to support us. Team SS is not complete without you, beb!

My 'son' Yukito also came... and abused by girls AGAIN it seems.

Captain Allen also came down to support us!

I find the Blue Megaman really funny!! Looking forward to our cosfest trip n together. Don't give up, tau!

After the skits, we had a huge gap in time till result announcement... so most of us just lie down on the carpeted floor and...

SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. (We're severely lacking it)

RESULT ANNOUNCEMENT

So the announcement of our individual marks for WCS M'sia Round A were announced at 5pm. The results are as follows (edited based on Video evidence):

  • Team Alichino (Amethyst) = 75%
  • Team Dynasty Warriors = 71.33%
  • Team Bleach = 69%
  • Team Black Rock Shooter = 63.66%
  • Team Rockman = 60%

These marks will be added to the marks we will get in WCS M'sia Round B (going to be held in Cosfest Singapore) later on. The highest combined marks will represent Malaysia. For now the competition is still hot n the winning title is still equally up for grabs. ><

So... Ganbatte everyone in all teams!!! Let's have an awsm fair fight in Cosfest!

AFTER EVENT

As the event ended, it was time to let loose and have fun. Time to enjoy time with friends... old friends and new friends. Time to share our joy and love for cosplay.... for cosplay was the thing that brought us together in the first place.

Language barrier's a bitch (i cannot speak Chinese like most) but we all had fun nonetheless. Cosplay is our common connector. And we had THE TIME OF OUR LIVES during this weekend.

JOURNEY BACK FROM JOHOR TO KL

After freshening up, quick mamak session n hotel checkout, we left Johor at around 10pm. The journey was tiring n uneventful, aside from the quick pitstop at Melaka.

We dump all our costumes at Yuan's house, so we can fix it at a later time.

Then everybody went back to their respective home, tired but satisfied, and very much BROKE. We reached home around 4 am.

SUMMARY

Overall we spent RM300 on hotel, about RM400 on petrol+toll (there were 2 cars, toll is RM41 for one way, petrol about RM50 for one way), and RM150 on food (for 5 person 3 days in the cheapest restaurant available). Overall prepare about RM250 per person for a weekend trip to Johor. Yep...That's a very large sum of money! We somehow managed to survive since we worked part-time and also we got lucky and won some $$ the week before at another cosplay competition. BUT I hope in the future, the organizer would at least sponsor the hotel, so that there would be more contestant able to travel to Johor n join ACM/WCS.

It takes about 5 hours of driving time from KL to Johor.

Thank you to Amos our babysitter for ur hard work n diligence! Thank you SCC, Japanese embassy n Gamehub for organizing this event. Thank you and hope to see u all at Cosfest later!

As stated by some, yes... me n my team severely lack experience (compared to other teams) and we fight along blindly with whatever noob skills we have. Forgive our lack of skills, everyone! We're trying our best! Everything we do, we take everything as a new learning experience, and hope to pass these knowledge to others in the future. We shall continue to ganbatte real hard!! I heard that the venue/stage at Cosfest is big, dark, and has video projector functions. I'm excited to try these new things which never existed in Malaysia cosplay scene!

Till cosfest~ See u all there!! MALAYSIA BOLEHLAH!!!

Journey Log WCS M'sia Round A - part 3

4th June (sat)- ACM Preliminary Round Competition

The rule stated that only 5 teams out of 6 in the ACM competition will be eligible to enter the WCS Preliminary Round on Sunday. So fight in ACM we did.

We woke up at 8am for free breakfast, and then slooowly prepare for our competition (which started at 2pm). Ikki n Ezli helped us buy the helium balloons (our stage props) in Johor that morning.

Ikki our SaiKING still sleepy~

Helpers from KL, including Shawn, Blur n Venus who just arrived, helped us get into our (very tedious) costumes.... and of course our 'babysitter' keeping us up-to-date while at it.

Other contestants getting into their costumes as well.

Super Robot War's wings of absolute gar-ness!! *worships*

The judges that day!! The Japanese ambassador, Stephanie from Singapore Cosplay Club (omg i so totally love her dress!!!) and Gamehub organizer.

Our Team .Hack//GU comprises of :

Yuan as Haseo (the boss!!)

Sky as AIDA Atoli (the Zombie-toli)

and Kids as Atoli (the moe A-troll-e)

Ikki, Yuan, Kids, Venus.... it took 4 ppl to do this makeup! Yeah those are eyes drawn onto eyelids.

Team #1 was Macross Frontier from KL

Team #2 was Megaman from Penang

Team #3 was .Hack//GU from KL

Team #4 was Bleach from Johor.

Team #5 was Black Rock Shooter from Johor

Team #6 was Super Robot World from Johor.

Extra info: our purple AIDA virus was lovingly named Virus Perasan (inside joke).

After the competition ended, we're basically fooling around while waiting for result announcement. Here are our resident photographers Weiss and Ezli, and their new fabulous hats!

Group photo of us KL contestants and gar-awsm helpers that day!

Winner announcement was at 5pm. The results were:
ACM winner n Malaysian representative = Team #6

Qualifying Teams for WCS Prelims =
  • Team #2 Megaman
  • Team #3 .Hack//GU
  • Team #4 Bleach
  • Team #5 BRS
  • Team #6 SRW
Each team will have 2 representative from their 3-person-team. Congrats everybody!!! Weeee~!!! I'm very glad Team #6 won ACM. They certainly deserve this! Plus i get to escape the death-sentence from my teamates, who swore will murder me if they had to do additional 4 skits n 4 costumes at cosfest. Eheheheh~ ^^;;; Ganbatte SRW team!!!

ORGANISER DINNER, MEETING, WCS REHEARSAL

After result announcement, there was a Cosplay Parade around the mall.... but we didn't join in, mainly because my costume is heavily damaged. So we went to the hotel to freshen up. Nightime we had a sponsored Japanese dinner by the organiser. Ah~ expensive Unagi Bento~ haven't touched that ever since we need to save up for ACM-WCS costumes huhuhuuyeaaa~ thank u organiser!! After dinner, we had a small meeting with Stephanie from SCC. It's the first time i met her n she's really awsm!! Seems she has a lot of experience, very unbiased n fair, strict yet approachable. I hope she'll be judging again at Cosfest because she obviously treats every team EQUALLY. She was telling us on our weaknesses n how to improve ourselves, and also what to expect and expected of us for WCS next day and at Cosfest.

Afterward was WCS stage rehearsal time. By then it was around midnight. For us (sky + yuan = Team Amethyst), we had a go at our skit sound, estimating the space we can walk around on that TINY stage, before we called it a night.

We went back to the hotel, dump wigs n costumes to our helpers to do finishing touches (thank u sooo much gais!!) and just zzzzz from exhaustion. Next, onwards to Sunday for our WCS Round A competition!
