Cosplay Events and The Media

HARI WILAYAH PARADE (28th January)

Held at the stretch of road from Masjid Negara to Dataran Merdeka. Since we've been through all these parade things during WCS-Japan, me and Yuan volunteered to be saikang for this event, together with Charity (since Cap'n Allen will be cosplaying and leading the group of cosplayers).

The walk is long and tedious, but the cosplayers were having fun and the crowd is having fun and we're happy to see happy faces. The event was covered by various TV stations and newspapers, but since there were huge turnout of thousands of people, the coverage was pretty random and more selective towards the Prime Minister.

ANIMAX EVENT (10th March)

Held at 1 Utama. Apparently the short commercial about it is out... but not yet the full blown coverage. You can watch it HERE.

I hope the full coverage will be released soon. I mean... that's half hour of my routine 'lepak session after event' gone for their recording amusement.

AMBASSADOR VISIT TO KINGDOM OF JAPAN EXHIBITION (8th March)

Held at National Arts Muzeum. Me and Yuan cosplaying as Strawberry Panic characters. There was a coverage on the page 2 of Japanese e-news HERE.

VIDEO GAMES LIVE PRESS LAUNCH (22nd March)

Held at Istana Budaya. It was to release info about the upcoming VGL concert, while the cosplayers are invited to make it more er... colourful lol.

Local media coverage on cosplays has certainly improved by a lot this year. Hope it will be better in the future!

RAGE 2012

RAGE event was over last Saturday+Sunday, at Pay Teck school in Melaka, organized by EMINA@MMU. Since it's held in melaka, me and my friends had a weekend sleepover roadtrip for this event. It was a pretty ok ok fun event. There wasn't as many ppl there as i hoped for, but whoever came, we made the most of it! Braving the heat, eat eat and eat and gossiping at Jonker Street. Yesssss~ very memorable weekend indeed (le ignores AFKLOL drama).

Day 1 (sat) we're cosplaying as Shonen Onmyouji characters, with me as Masahiro, Yuan as Gurren, Chiko as Dragon Goddess, and Mokkun as Mokkun, dragging Wen as random youkai. We did this for a skit based on Shiomaru's songs Amendment, which had a very disastrous result so i shall not post the video here until we redo it in the future hahaha OTL


eer...ooops??!! Hahah... thankfully the sword was made to be lightweight enough to not cause serious injury but tough enough to withstand impact and not break. But Yuan never stopped complaining about the bruise i gave her (hey you're suppose to BLOCK ok).

Had some shoot done, 1st photo by Hexlord, 2nd photo by e-jump, others not out yet (no rush! i know even photographers have other things to do in life).

I actually did a weird things this time by ASKING photographers for a shoot, instead of vice versa. Received many different reactions: some willing, some not willing, some are busy and took the initiative to call other photographers to shoot us instead. Hrmm hmm..... *takes note* Anyway i'm really sprry if i seem annoying and pester-ish!!! Thank you for your patience and guidance!!

Day 2 (sunday) I cosplayed as Ponyo and Yuan as Nathan.

During the prize giving ceremony, our Shonen Onmyouji won best group. Btw meet my new friend from Nigeria!!! HE IS FABULOUS!

LE TOUR DE NATIONAL ART GALLERY

Anyway, currently The National Art Gallery is hosting an Exhibition called JAPAN: Kingdom of Characters. So on Thursday 8/3/12, when the Japanese Ambassador came to visit, a group of us cosplayers volunteered to give him and his guests a welcoming entourage. Very short, nothing fancy, and gives me excuse to check out the exhibition. Unfortunately there's very little to see... wish there are more stuff exhibited considering there's a lot of empty space provided. NST and STAR journalist were around covering the event, but i stayed in the shadows lol~

ANIMAX CARNIVAL 2012

Animax Carnival was held at 1utama on the 10/3/2012. At first i thought of only checking it out a while b4 going to the movie.... but my friends keep asking me to join the competition. I agreed in the end.... but reusing old costume coz... well idk. Wasn't really gung ho about all this.

20 contestants overall. i couldn't comment much on the skits coz i didn't manage to watch. I only managed to hang around with cosplayers at the side stage area there throughout the event because i destroyed my shoes. There were many cosplayers and visitors that day, surprisingly! Mostly vocaloids hahaha.... the vocaloid force still remain strong in Malaysia! Had insane fun hanging out with friends, Yuan traumatizing the male... the usual gig.


YEAAA ANGST ALL THE WAY!!!! We had to do 2 skits for this competition, 1 pre-prepared and 1 spontaneous without audio help. My skits this time was so drama-filled i feel so "the fuck is this, the fuck was that" at myself! I was cosplaying the Chiru version of Beatrice, dragging Yuan as Battler the bastard-tsun Sorcerer and my son Wen as Ronove (managed to make his costume using my leftover cloth in time phew~)


ogod i know i gained weight hahaha my face so round~


Stabity STAB!! Honestly not enough preparation... even the sword we used was what supposedly for Shonen Onmyouji but still unfinished yet eheheh...


Yes that is the famous Alodia, cosplaying as Yui from K-On. She was one of the invited celebrity judge and spokesperson for this Animax event. SHE LOOKS AND TALKS LIKE A DOLL I TELL YOU!!! Ayase was judging as well as Killua (no Hisoka *sobs*) And then my other son Xajin was the most fangirled creature at this event with his Sebastian *whyaminotsurprised.jpeg

Unfortunately there's NO VIDEO of the skit nor competition i could find. The bane of cosplaying non-mainstream anime *fail laugh*


But somehow, surprisingly, won anyway trolololiduneven~ me 1st, Xajin 2nd, and Ayumi 3rd. Aaaand I got to hug Alodia on-stage HAHAHAH BURN FANBOIS BUUUURN <---- Yuan said that actually.


Right afterwards we were interviewed by Animax and required to say a million and one things for them. You'll probably see it soon on Animax channel after they edited off all the idiotic parts we did. "Thank you Animax and Astro for this fun and exciting event! yay!"

The next day we came back to 1utama and watch John Carter (without cosplaying of course), just as originally planned.



KARNIVAL BELIA KREATIF

... was CANCELLED *le fuuuuuu~!!! We were very disappointed becoz me and Yuan wanted to battle it out against each other over WHO IS MORE TROLLOLOL BEBEH?!!! Guess we won't be seeing that anytime soon....



RAGE EVENT
Radical Anime Games Expo 2012 will be held on he 31/3/2012 and 1/4/2012 over at Melaka. Yay~ roadtrip!!! Me and my friends will be doing a cosplay skit tribute in honour of Shiomaru and her amazing songs!!! Look forward to it on day 1 yaaa~ \o/

Had this shoot on Christmas eve (since we don't celebrate it). A lot of OTL moments happened, which included me accidentally left my belt at home, a lot of humans thinking we're doing some shows and stalking/harassing us, and malaysia's beautiful heat-wave.... but overall with wonderful company, epic photogs and orgasmic scenery, our shoot came out pretty nice~!!!!

NEW YEAR'S EVE COSPLAY BALL

Was organized by cosplayers for cosplayers. Held at Sri Petaling Hotel's ballroom. Pretty nifty and very fun private event. Pretty crazy night too.... the only time when male cosplayers discard their clothes in public, to the song "I'm Sexy and I Know It"... and yes they are sober. I shall leave that to your imagination.

Me and Yuan cosplayed as the Strawberry Panic wonderful Yuri pairing, Nagisa and Shizuma. Yuan cosplaying a girl really shocked some people hahahaha~!!!


We won a contest where we had to dress up a non-cosplayer. Thank you for being so sporting, future-cosplayer-man!! Men in blonde and black are 2 of our 4 'sons'. Very proud of them!

CARNIVAL BELIA KREATIF

Comic Fiesta goes to Carnival Belia Kreatif! So says the website.

This would be the first time i join for this event. Making it more interesting, Yuan is joining as Solo, I myself would be joining as Solo, my friend Junnie is joining as Solo, her bf Xenon (daddy!) is joining as Solo contestants. Partnership divided, fighting against each other (on the stage only of course!). I'm feeling the stress!!! But very excited too! And obviously the gar prize means we'll fight other gar contestants+partnership. Wooot~!!! Stressful so damn scary but BRING IT ON YEA!!!

Also I recently posted this status where i feel it's time Malaysia implement a rule that actually has existed in all over the world... which is

"If you have worn your costume for any other competition at any convention and have won an award, you will not be able to win in this competition."

Well, there is no such official rule yet, but at least i try to do the things which i preached.

... which is giving me lotsa headache right now coz most of my previous costumes had won at something at one event or another!!! And my CF costumes are... let's say it's not suitable for open air outdoor competition area.
